Magnificat - Bach - BWV 243

Magnificat - Bach -BWV 243
K3MK Company | Karry Kamal Karry

A dance opera project based on Bach's Magnificat : music, song, dance, theatre, video with orchestra and a mixed amateur and professional choir.

It is by examining multiple historical monuments, their spaces, their proportions, their volumes, by feeling their histories and by confronting their past that Karry Kamal Karry will create Magnificat. In dialogue with these places that inspire her, Karry Kamal Karry gives back all the religious force of Johann Sebastian Bach's music.

The space is extremely important, as it will be the first expression of the piece and will carry within it the central theme treated by Bach's music. In Karry Kamal Karry's mind, the space is so important that it must leave its mark on the dance and allow or not allow for the dance and whether or not it allows for certain possibilities. This is how the artist takes over the space, the set and the music, modelling movements that he inscribes in a setting marked by history, the past while remaining infinitely modern. This choreographic piece will pre-exist the place, where it will be inscribed.

Karry Kamal Karry delivers a staging and an organic and dynamic choreographic structure of Magnificat, inspired by Bach's eponymous score, which gives rise to a lively, poetic and immediate dance.
Magnificat brings together artists, dancers, singers, musicians and a choir, to invent, in the pleasure experienced and projected by a choral form, a hymn to youth, to this force that seizes the present with its arms and filters the world towards another tomorrow, to the uncounted energy of the feeling of immortality.
